Vitruvius tells us that an ancient architect named Callimachus happened across a basket lifted in the leaves of the acanthus plant.  Callimachus, inspired, created a new order of architecture and named it after the region, Corinth.

Acanthus Lighting draws on a strong architectural tradition and adds a touch of theatrical flare to create functional and beautiful lighting designs for commercial, residential, and theatrical spaces.

Acanthus Lighting was established in 2003 by acclaimed lighting designer David K. Warfel.  Mr. Warfel, a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) and an associate member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), joined the faculty of the University of Illinois in 2002 as an instructor of lighting design.
